Reading a sermon in another language

On a sermon, choose a language under Read this sermon in. Its title, series, description, outline, quotations, and transcript are translated. Bible references, the speaker’s name, and the recording stay as they were.

A sermon is translated the first time somebody chooses that language, and the picker shows how far it has got. Translations are made by machine and may include errors. To see what was said, open a translated line’s menu and choose Show original English.

Following a live service

During a live service, choose a language under Language on the live screen. The outline and the words being spoken follow the English by a few seconds.

Your church chooses its languages

A church starts with every language in the table. Its owner can turn some off, and can have each new sermon translated without anybody asking. A language that is turned off is not listed for that church’s sermons, live services, or Bible. English is always there.

The app’s own language

The app’s menus and buttons are in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. On the phone: Settings, then Language. On the web: the round button beside your name. Choosing one also sets the language sermons and the Bible open in. The pages for church staff are in English.

The Bible

Most of these languages have one or two Bible translations. There is none in Japanese, French, and Russian. Chapters can be listened to in English. In a chapter, the Hebrew or Greek switch shows the original words, each with its meaning in English.

Sermons preached in another language

A sermon preached in another language is written down in that language. It can be read in English too: choose English under Read this sermon in. On a translated line’s menu, Show original shows what was said. Mandarin Chinese has been tried on test recordings and reads well, in Simplified characters. Other languages may work and have not been tried. A church’s staff can say what language it usually preaches in, including Cantonese: AI settings, then Preaching language.

Bible references picked out of a sermon, keyword search, paragraph breaks, and word-by-word highlighting work for sermons preached in English.
